Cityscapes: The Dream of Modernity
VNITROBLOCK

Book Presentation and Signing with DJ Set 8 August 2017 at 19.00,
Photography Exhibition 8 August - 9 September 2017

Tusarova 791/31, Holešovice, 170 00 Praha 7
Event produced with art collective Dudies and Barbies

The installation and the vernissage of Cityscapes - The Dream of Modernity at Vnitroblock in one minute
I got to know Danilo through our mutual friends from Soffa Magazine and I immediately loved the idea of making an exhibition called Cityscapes: The Dream of Modernity. A collection of black and white photos capturing the duality of globalized cities suits Vnitroblock - a former factory hall - more than anything else. I mention the word duality especially because of the contrast the exhibition tried to highlight. Contrast between the jungle of strict geometry made of concrete, glass and stainless steel, where we tend to get lost and abandoned… and narrow streets between skyscrapers or other places which are considered the unwanted appendixes of the city. Yet, very often these places are the most significant and vital, offering the true insight to a modern city life. This contrast was brilliantly pointed up by using black curtains in the white gallery room. The whole installation was very carefully made, reflecting how such a big professional and talented artist Danilo is and I feel honoured to have had the opportunity to work with him.

Cityscapes: The Dream of Modernity
ITALIAN CULTURAL INSTITUTE PRAGUE

Book presentation and signing 9 March 2017 at 18.00, Photography exhibition 9-24 March 2017
Šporkova 335/14 118 00 - Malá Strana  Prague

The Italian Culture Institute of Prague is honored to have hosted an exhibition with photographs by Danilo De Rossi. I personally liked them and I like them for two reasons. First of all because of the photographic technique: excellent and accentuated by the ability to use black and white. But above all because behind the facade of the “dream of modernity” they can also ‘tell’ us a lot about the hidden face of modernity.
